Ok, I watched it... yes!, New Moon. Just a review.

Sat Nov 21, 2009, 8:40 PM
Disclaimer: I don't pretend by all means insult the Twilight fans... maybe I can get killed.
Dirty little secret: they like it, I don't so let's respect the different points of view.

Ok, I've read the books and I just want to give my opinion in what this movie represents in terms of cinematography. I'm honestly not interested on starting a debate about if Stephenie Meyer's books are good or not, I have my opinion on her work and it's mine... I only want to comment on, let's be honest, one of the most anticipated films of the year.

The movie is better than the first one, by far.
The first movie lacked everything: a nice direction, good and believable performances, quality, chemistry, a good score, etc. In it's own way "New Moon" is little better in terms of what the fist one lacked. In a way, there's a better direction, I think; better performances, a better score, a better chemistry and quality, now it doesn't look all fake and more pathetic, now the word fake is replaced by the word corny and it's still pathetic but less than the last one.
I seriously thank the Lord that in this one "Robbie-Patz" has moved on a second term because he is such a bad actor, you don't believe him a thing, the poor man, and I consider him one of the most overrated young actors of these years. His time on screen it's like been stabbed in the heart, awful and disgusting like his shirtless scene (by the love of God, put something on!). He has two ways now: improve or disappear, I honestly hope with all my heart that he do the last thing and let other young and more talented actors like Jamie Bell, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Johnson, Rupert Grint, etc., prove themselves.
Talking about Kristen Stewart I would like to say, first of all, that I love her, seriously, I LOVE her, kill me, destroy me, I don't care, I'm a proud Krisbian.
I love her... but not in the Twilight movies. I've seen her in movies like "Speak", "Adventureland" and "The Yellow Handkerchief" and in those she has proved to be a great and talented actress with so many chances of improvement and I seriously hope that when all of this Twilight thing ends for her, she could prove to all her detractors what she's worth, where her real acting bones are. In this movie she proves something though, a better performance than in the first installment, I felt HER, not Bella, more natural, dark and honest but I honestly don't like to see her playing Bella... those eye contacts make me feel nervous and the structure of the character bothers so much and that's why Stewart surprises me: she just manages to make Bella less pathetic than she actually is.
And Taylor Lautner... he's fine, well, I like him better than Pattinson and his chemistry with Stewart is better than the chemistry she has with the glittering vamp. He's a nice actor, he has to prove more of himself and I wish for him the same that I wish for Stewart.

But "New Moon" in general is just "ok", nothing more, nothing to take serious, nothing to take Oscar nods. That movie is about having a nice time laughing at the cheesy and ridiculous dialogue, enjoying a pair of amazing performances by Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning as "the bad guys", feeling haunted by the inspiring score from Alexandre Desplat and rejoicing at the very moment Tom Yorke's voice is heard.
I could say that it sucked but I actually spent a great time laughing at the "serious" scenes and screaming for Kristen Stewart with :iconmissroxiegraves: so the verdict is: yes, it sucked but it's so bad that you actually enjoy it.

That's it, my contradictory review... but nothing more can be expected with Twilight, everything is contradictory with that saga, WTF.
Take care people, feel free to comment if you want or if you don't want, feel free too... if you like to insult the go and fuck off :]
Bye
